Module Feature

3BSE078740R1 is a terminal base unit for ABB S800 I/O series.

It provides field wiring terminals and mechanical carrier for corresponding S800 I/O modules. It supports hot swap function of I/O modules, built-in signal wiring terminals and backplane bus connector. It is widely used in ABB AC800M DCS system for chemical, pulp and power plant control cabinet signal connection.

Working principle

Field instrument wires are terminated on the terminal base.

Signals are transmitted to the plugged I/O module through internal bus contacts. The terminal base provides mechanical fixation and wiring interface, and realizes bus communication between I/O module and controller.

Screw terminal block, backplane bus connector, metal mounting bracket, locking mechanism.

LED indicators

No independent LED on this terminal base, status indicators are on the matched I/O module.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Diagnosis is completed by the matched I/O module and DCS controller, to detect loose contact and bus communication fault.

Installation

Clip the base firmly on standard DIN rail.

Wire field cables to terminals according to drawing, lock the I/O module onto the base, test bus communication after power on.
