ABB REA Arc Flash Protection System

Feature & Principle

ABB REA is a dedicated arc flash protection system, mainly including master unit REA101 and extension module REA105. It judges arc fault by combining arc optical signal and overcurrent signal. Once an arc fault is detected, it triggers rapid tripping to limit arc energy and protect switchgear and personnel. It supports fiber loop or radial sensor wiring, built-in self-supervision function to monitor fiber and circuit health status, and can realize breaker failure protection logic. It is widely used in medium and low voltage air insulated switchgear rooms.
