Control Techniques GPD2403 AC Drive Unit

Module Feature

GPD2403 belongs to Control Techniques Commander GP series AC variable frequency drive. Rated heavy-duty power 11kW, three-phase 380~480V input, 25A output current.

It supports V/F control and open-loop flux vector control. Onboard includes 5 digital inputs, 3 analog inputs, 1 digital output, 2 analog outputs and 1 relay output. It can be fitted with optional communication modules for Modbus and other fieldbus. The series has been discontinued, mainly used for the maintenance replacement of old packaging machinery, conveying lines, fans and water pump systems.

Working principle

Three-phase AC is rectified to DC, then IGBT module converts DC to adjustable frequency and voltage PWM AC to drive induction motor.

The control board collects analog and digital setpoint signals, adjusts output frequency to realize speed regulation. It has built-in overload, overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and stall protection, and will stop output and trigger alarm when fault occurs.

Onboard components

Rectifier bridge, IGBT inverter power stage, DC bus capacitor bank, current sampling circuit, main control board, removable keypad, cooling fan, terminal block for power and control signals.

LED indicators

Front panel LEDs indicate power, run, fault and communication status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Power-on self-test and continuous monitoring detect phase loss, over-temperature, ground fault, bus over/under voltage and internal hardware fault, and store fault codes.

Programming softwareCTSoft software, used for parameter setting, trend monitoring, fault log review.

Installation

Install in ventilated cabinet, separate power wiring and control wiring. Set motor nameplate parameters and perform auto-tune after wiring. Clean fan and heatsink dust regularly.

Diagnostic

Overcurrent fault: Motor short circuit, cable insulation damage, acceleration time too short. Bus overvoltage: Regenerative load without brake resistor. Unstable speed: Auto-tune not completed, analog signal interference. Keypad no display: Auxiliary power supply fault.
