Module Feature

SP5401 belongs to Control Techniques Unidrive SP series universal panel-mounted drive, frame size 5.

It can drive asynchronous motor, synchronous servo motor and induction servo motor, with built-in PLC function and encoder feedback interface. It reserves three SM option slots, can expand Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet and other communication cards. This model is widely used for high-performance speed regulation and positioning control of old CNC equipment, material conveying lines, packaging machines and process heavy-duty equipment, it is a common spare for field drive replacement.

Working principle

Three-phase AC is rectified into DC, then the IGBT power stage converts DC into adjustable voltage and frequency PWM AC.

The main control board receives set value, feedback signal and interlock signal, runs motor control algorithm and built-in PLC logic. It has complete protection functions such as overcurrent, overvoltage, over-temperature, phase loss and stall. When the fault condition is triggered, the drive will lock the output and record the fault code.

Onboard components

Rectifier stack, IGBT inverter module, DC bus capacitor bank, current sampling circuit, main control board, removable operation keypad, cooling fan, power and control terminal block, expansion option slot.

LED indicators

Front panel LEDs indicate power, running status, fault alarm and communication link status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Power-on self-test and real-time monitoring detect phase loss, ground fault, over-temperature, bus voltage abnormality, encoder signal error and internal hardware failure, store fault codes for query.

Programming software

CTSoft software, used for parameter setting, motor auto-tune, trend monitoring, fault log backup.

Installation

Install in ventilated electrical cabinet, separate power wiring and control signal wiring.

Input the motor nameplate parameters after wiring and complete auto-tune. Match communication option module and set station address when using fieldbus. Clean fan and radiator dust regularly.

Diagnostic

Overcurrent fault: Motor cable short circuit, acceleration time too short, motor insulation damage.
