Eaton HMCP030H1CA02 Motor Circuit Protector Unit

Module Feature

HMCP030H1CA02 belongs to Eaton Series C HMCP motor circuit protector,F frame,3-pole,30A rated continuous current,600VAC /250VDC. It adopts adjustable magnetic instantaneous trip unit with trip range 90~300A,only for short-circuit and locked rotor protection; thermal overload protection needs to be configured separately with motor starter overload relay. Widely used in motor control centers,combined with NEMA motor starters for squirrel cage motor short-circuit protection.

Working principle

Magnetic coil triggers instantaneous trip when large short-circuit or locked-rotor current occurs. Manual operating handle supports ON/OFF/RESET operation. Optional auxiliary contacts can feed breaker trip status to PLC control system. This device does NOT provide thermal overload protection for motors.

LED indicators

No built-in LED indicators; status feedback comes from optional auxiliary contact.

Installation

Follow strict ESD safety procedure before handling.Mount protector firmly inside MCC bucket or control panel.Connect line side and load side power lugs with correct torque.Adjust magnetic trip range according to motor locked rotor current before power commissioning.

Diagnostic

Nuisance trip:excessive inrush current or improper magnetic trip setting. Fail to trip:damaged magnetic coil or contact welding. Arc discharge:short circuit fault or loose wiring terminal.
