Module Feature

SPD250480D3K belongs to Eaton SPD series side-mounted surge protection device. It is Type 2 SPD with 250kA surge capacity for each phase, designed for 480V delta three-wire plus ground power system. Standard package with built-in surge counter to record total surge events. NEMA 1 metal enclosure for indoor wall side mounting. Thermally protected MOV components will disconnect automatically upon overheating to avoid fire risk. Widely applied for commercial and industrial power distribution panels, MCC, switchgear protection against lightning and switching transient surges.

Working principle

Under normal operating voltage, the metal oxide varistor (MOV) maintains high impedance and does not affect normal power supply. When high voltage surge occurs, MOV impedance drops rapidly to divert surge current to ground, clamping transient voltage to safe level. The built-in counter accumulates each surge hit for equipment health monitoring. Thermal isolation mechanism cuts off failed MOV to prevent hazard.

Installation
