Reliance Electric GP-2000 AC Drive Unit

Module Feature

GP-2000 is Reliance Electric general-purpose AC variable frequency drive series. It adopts PWM vector control algorithm to drive standard three-phase induction motors. Supports V/F control and basic vector control modes, built-in overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and overheat protection functions. It accepts analog ±10V, 4-20mA or digital command signals. Compact cabinet mount design, widely used for pumps, fans, conveyors and general industrial motor speed regulation.

Working principle

The drive converts fixed AC grid input into DC bus voltage via rectifier bridge. The IGBT inverter module outputs variable frequency and variable voltage AC power to the motor according to control command. Internal DSP processor implements closed-loop speed regulation. The output frequency changes continuously to adjust motor rotational speed while maintaining proper V/F ratio for stable torque output.

Onboard components

Input rectifier module, DC bus capacitor bank, IGBT power inverter, DSP control board, current & voltage sensing circuit, cooling fan, terminal block, status indicator LEDs.

LED indicators

Power LED, run LED, fault alarm LED. Different light states indicate power on, running status and fault codes.

Hardware self-diagnosis

Read drive fault code, monitor output current and bus voltage, check cooling fan rotation, inspect heat sink temperature, verify input power stability.

Programming software

Reliance Electric GP2000 dedicated configuration software, parameter setting, fault log reading and drive tuning via communication cable. Parameters can also be set locally through front keypad.

Installation

Mount vertically inside electrical cabinet, reserve top and bottom clearance for air convection cooling. Separate motor power cable from control signal cable, use shielded motor cable with shield grounded at drive end. Complete parameter commissioning according to motor nameplate data before load test run.

Interface

3-phase power input terminals, 3-phase motor output terminals, analog input terminals, digital I/O terminals, RS485 communication port, keypad connection port.

Diagnostic

Overcurrent fault: motor short circuit, ground fault or acceleration ramp too fast. Overvoltage: regenerative energy from high inertia load or unstable input supply. Overheat: blocked cooling air path, fan failure or high ambient temperature. Communication loss: loose wiring or wrong station address.
