Module Feature

SIEB & MEYER PS10 PS10/55 DC is PS10 series rack-mounted power supply unit. It supplies stable DC bus voltage for matched SIEB & MEYER SD2, FC71, FC72 drive modules. This PS10/55 variant is the 55kW power grade version. It supports brake energy absorption with integrated ballast resistor circuit. Built-in comprehensive protection functions including overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, phase loss and overtemperature protection. Compact plug-in rack construction, good EMC performance. Widely used in CNC machine tools, semiconductor processing equipment and high-speed spindle multi-axis drive systems.

Working principle

The module converts three-phase AC mains input into smoothed DC bus voltage for all connected drive modules in the rack. When motors decelerate, regenerative energy charges the DC bus; once bus voltage exceeds threshold, the built-in brake circuit dissipates surplus energy. The module continuously samples voltage, current and internal temperature. If fault conditions are detected, it locks the DC bus enable signal and outputs fault alarm to protect the whole drive rack.

Onboard components

Input rectifier stack, DC bus capacitor bank, ballast brake circuit, current & voltage sampling sensors, temperature detector, fault logic board, power terminal block, backplane bus connector, cooling fan assembly.

LED indicators

Front panel LED indicators for mains power, DC bus ready, brake active and fault code display.

Hardware self-diagnosis

Visual inspection of housing, terminals and backplane pins; three-phase input voltage measurement; DC bus voltage test; read LED fault codes; inspect fan rotation and heat sink dust accumulation; check fuse integrity.

Programming software

SIEB & MEYER commissioning software for power unit parameter configuration, status monitoring and fault log reading.

Function

Installation

Follow lockout/tagout safety procedure before installation. Cut off all rack power completely. Insert module into designated rack slot and lock firmly. Wire three-phase AC input, ground and auxiliary DC24V control supply. Connect backplane bus to communicate with drive modules. Set parameters via SIEB & MEYER commissioning software, verify DC bus stability before system trial run.

Diagnostic

No power LED: Missing 3-phase AC input or mains fuse blown. Bus not ready: Pre-charge failure, input phase loss or internal hardware defect. Overvoltage alarm: Excessive regenerative energy or damaged brake resistor. Overheat alarm: Fan failure, clogged heat sink or continuous heavy load. Phase loss alarm: Loose power terminal or broken input phase wire.
