Module Feature

3BSE024388R3 is ABB Millmate 400R series rolling force excitation unit, part number alias PFXA401F, specially developed for metallurgical rolling mill stands. It provides stable, high-precision excitation voltage to strain gauge type rolling force load cells, collects and conditions load cell feedback signals, calculates real-time roll force value and transmits data to rolling control system. It has strong anti-vibration and anti-electromagnetic interference performance, adapts to the harsh environment of hot rolling and cold rolling workshops. It is the core measuring component for strip thickness closed-loop control, roll force overload protection and rolling process data recording.

Working principle

The module outputs constant excitation power to the strain gauge load cell installed on the rolling mill housing. When rolling force changes, the load cell generates tiny millivolt differential signal. The internal high-precision amplifier and AD circuit convert the signal into digital quantity. After calibration and temperature compensation, the rolling force value is uploaded to the mill main control system, which adjusts roll gap or roll speed to maintain strip target thickness.

Use ABB Millmate configuration software for load cell calibration, force range setting, filter parameter adjustment and fault diagnosis.

Installation

Install the module in the rolling mill control cabinet. Connect excitation and signal cables to the corresponding load cell according to wiring drawing. Connect communication cable to the rolling PLC system. Complete load cell zero calibration and span calibration before rolling test run.
