Module Feature

3BSE078762R1 is ABB AIS810 signal conditioning module of Select I/O family for System 800xA DCS.

Single channel analog input, compatible with 2-wire and externally powered 4-wire field transmitters, supports HART V7 pass-through and secondary variable reading. 16-bit ADC with 0.1% measurement accuracy, 30mA electronic field current limiting, 3060VDC galvanic isolation between field side and Modulebus backplane. It supports hot swap, redundant channel configuration and built-in field disconnect slider. Installed on TUS810 termination unit, designed for non-SIL general process control loop. Widely stocked as maintenance spare for refinery, chemical plant and power plant instrument cabinet.

Working principle

The module samples 4–20mA analog signal from field HART transmitter.

Internal 16-bit ADC converts analog signal into digital value and transmits to 800xA controller via Modulebus. HART modem extracts digital HART data superimposed on the current loop. Continuous loop supervision detects open circuit, short circuit and out-of-range signal, and sends fault status back to DCS controller. Field disconnect slider isolates field wiring safely during instrument maintenance.

Onboard components

Signal sampling circuit, 16-bit ADC, HART modem chip, galvanic isolation barrier, Modulebus communication interface, current limiting circuit, field disconnect switch, status LED bank and compact plug-in PCB housing.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, run status, field loop fault, Modulebus communication and module health status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects loop open/short, overcurrent, modulebus communication loss, internal power fault and ADC anomaly. Configuration and fault diagnosis are completed by ABB Control Builder M / 800xA engineering workplace.

Programming softwareControl Builder M, used for channel range setup, HART tag mapping, redundancy configuration and fault log reading.

Installation

Isolate field loop and Modulebus power before replacement.

Insert module into correct coded slot of MTU base, activate field disconnect slider before field wiring work, download I/O configuration, test 4-20mA and HART communication after commissioning.

Interface

Modulebus backplane interface, field terminal via FTB field terminal block for 4-20mA HART input loop.

Diagnostic

Loop fault alarm: Transmitter power loss, wire open/short or loop impedance out of range. HART no communication: Wrong loop resistor, wiring polarity reversed or HART device fault. Module offline: MTU power loss, Modulebus failure or firmware version mismatch.
