ABB RASC323W Redundancy Sync Module Unit

Module Feature

RASC323W is a hot-swappable synchronization module for ABB Freelance AC 900F DCS redundant controller pair.

It serves as the dedicated high-speed link between active and standby PMA323BE processor modules. It continuously copies control algorithm states, I/O image tables, alarm and sequence runtime data between two controllers. It monitors sync channel health and triggers bumpless automatic switchover once the main controller fails. It adopts conformal coated PCB and metal shielding frame, widely used in chemical, power and water treatment redundant control bays.

Working principle

The module receives real-time runtime snapshot from the active controller.

It transmits all dynamic control data to the standby controller to keep both processors running with identical process state. When the system detects master controller fault, it releases control right to standby without interruption of closed-loop regulation and interlock logic.

Onboard components

Redundancy communication transceiver, high-speed serial bus circuit, backplane high-density connector, status LED array, temperature monitoring chip, SMD circuit components, conformal coated PCB.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power status, sync link health, active/standby matching state and sync fault alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects sync channel dropout, data checksum error, supply voltage abnormality and over-temperature. Fault records can be viewed via ABB Freelance engineering software.

Installation

Cut off cabinet power supply before replacement, insert the module into the designated slot and lock the buckle.

Connect backplane bus, verify sync link and redundant switchover function before commissioning.
