System compatibilityCFP2 is qualified by Extreme Networks for BlackDiamond X8 series line cards including BDXB-100G4X-XL. It works with ExtremeXOS operating system. It supports 100G Ethernet and OTU4 for data center core uplink and carrier transport networks.

FunctionCFP2 converts high-speed electrical signals to optical signals for 100G fiber transmission. It supports DOM to monitor real-time parameters including transmit power, receive power, module temperature and supply voltage. Some models support breakout into 10×10G ports for flexible port utilization. Used for 100G interconnection between Extreme core switches and routers.
