Module Feature

CR308E1 belongs to GE CR308 NEMA magnetic combination motor starter series. It is an integrated motor control assembly including magnetic contactor, three-pole thermal overload relay and manual disconnect switch. It realizes local and remote start-stop control of three-phase AC induction motors. The built-in overload relay offers motor overload and phase loss protection, manual reset design. Heavy-duty metal enclosure supports multiple NEMA enclosure types. Auxiliary contacts are available for status feedback and electrical interlock. Widely used in water treatment, power plant, petrochemical and manufacturing pump, fan and conveyor motor control systems.

Working principle

When control voltage is applied to the GE contactor coil, electromagnetic attraction pulls the armature to close main contacts, supplying power to the motor. When motor overload or phase imbalance fault occurs, thermal overload relay heats up and trips, cutting off the coil power to stop the motor. The manual disconnect switch provides visible isolation for maintenance work. Auxiliary contacts synchronously switch state to transmit running or fault signals to PLC and alarm circuits.

Installation

Follow lockout-tagout procedure and cut off main power and control power before installation. Fix GE CR308E1 starter firmly on mounting wall. Wire main power, motor cable and control circuit to corresponding terminals. Adjust overload trip current according to motor nameplate rated current, test start-stop operation after wiring.

Diagnostic

Motor cannot start: coil burnout or wrong control voltage. Frequent tripping: overload relay setting error or motor actual overload. Terminal overheating: loose wiring or contact surface oxidation.
