Honeywell FC-PDIO01 Safety DIO Module Unit

Module Feature

FC-PDIO01 belongs to Honeywell Safety Manager SC safety instrumented system series. It is a TÜV certified SIL3 grade rack-mounted digital I/O module. The 32 channels can be individually configured as digital input or digital output. It adopts safety-oriented QMR fault-tolerant circuit design, supports hot swap without system shutdown. Built-in channel diagnostic and fault voting mechanism, suitable for safety shutdown system, emergency trip circuit and critical safety interlock control. It communicates with safety controller through proprietary safety backplane bus. Widely used in oil & gas, petrochemical and refining SIS cabinets.

Working principle

The module exchanges safety signal data with the Safety Manager SC controller via backplane bus. For input channels, it samples 24VDC discrete signals from field emergency stop switches, limit switches and safety contact feedback. For output channels, it receives safety logic commands and drives field solenoid valves and trip relays. Every channel carries out continuous fault detection, and fault information is sent to the safety controller for safety voting.

Installation

Cut off safety chassis power before operation. Insert Honeywell FC-PDIO01 module into matched backplane slot and lock the latch. Wire field safety discrete signals to termination assembly. Download safety configuration, perform channel test and fault injection test before commissioning.

Diagnostic

Module fault alarm: backplane contact failure or internal safety circuit fault. Channel stuck state: field wiring short/open or channel circuit damage. Communication loss: backplane bus fault or safety controller synchronization lost.
