This Siemens 6ES72231BL220XA0 is EM223 digital I/O expansion module for SIMATIC S7-200 PLC, only compatible with S7-22X series CPU. It provides 16 channels 24VDC digital input and 16 channels 24VDC transistor output, each output channel rated 0.75A, supports sink/source wiring mode. It connects to S7-200 CPU via expansion cable to increase switching signal points, collects sensor signals and drives solenoid valves, indicators and other actuators. This model has been discontinued by Siemens and is used as maintenance spare part for old automation production lines. Widely used in packaging, textile, water treatment and small machinery control systems.
