Module Feature

S30824-Q118-X101 is a legacy Siemens telecommunication interface board.

It belongs to the S30824 series telecom card family, widely deployed in old Siemens transmission and telecontrol racks. It is designed for E1 / G.703 or serial communication signal conversion and transmission, realizes data exchange between field telecontrol equipment and central communication host. It adopts backplane bus plug-in structure, with signal isolation and surge protection circuit on each channel. This series is end-of-life and difficult to source, mainly stocked as maintenance spare for power station telecontrol, railway communication and industrial remote SCADA cabinet.

Working principle

The board receives incoming E1 or serial data stream.

Onboard codec and FPGA circuit complete clock recovery, frame alignment and protocol processing. Valid data is forwarded to backplane bus to upper control board, and outgoing data is packaged and sent to field communication link. Continuous link quality monitoring, loss of signal and frame error detection are running in real time, and fault alarms are uploaded to communication management system.

Onboard components

FPGA protocol processing chip, E1 line interface transceiver, signal isolation transformer, surge protection circuit, backplane connector, channel status LED array, metal front panel and PCB assembly.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate module power, link active, frame sync status, signal loss and error alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in link supervision detects LOS loss of signal, frame slip, CRC error and internal power fault. Fault information can be checked by Siemens matched telecom network management software.

Programming software

Siemens telecom network management tool, used for port configuration, clock mode setting, alarm threshold and status query.

Installation

Power off communication rack before replacement.

Insert card into matching slot, lock front panel, verify clock synchronization and link signal, test end-to-end data transmission and alarm function.

Diagnostic

Link LOS alarm: Line cable broken, attenuation over-limit or clock mismatch. High CRC error: Impedance mismatch, poor shielding or board interface circuit aging. Module no run: Rack power failure or backplane contact bad.
