Products Description
VMIC-7700 Single Board Computer

Module Feature
VMIC-7700 is a single-slot 6U VMEbus single board computer powered by Intel ultra-low voltage Celeron processor, available in 400 MHz and 650 MHz versions with Intel 815E chipset and 100 MHz front-side bus. It supports up to 512 MB PC100 SDRAM via 144-pin SODIMM socket, equipped with 32 KB battery-backed nonvolatile SRAM for persistent parameter and fault log storage. Storage options include bootable CompactFlash up to 1 GB and IDE hard disk interface via P2 rear connector. Integrated VGA graphics controller supports standard industrial display resolution. Dual independent 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet ports provide redundant network communication. Serial interfaces include two software configurable RS232/422/485 channels with hardware flow control, dual USB1.1 host ports and battery-backed real-time clock. One PMC mezzanine expansion slot accepts 3.3 V /5 V PMC modules for fiber RFM, analog I/O or extra communication interfaces. VME64 bus compliance supporting A24/A32 addressing, D16/D32/D64, BLT and MBLT block transfer modes. Programmable hardware watchdog timer can trigger NMI, VME SYSFAIL or full system reset for fail-safe operation. Rugged Eurocard construction, widely used in gas/steam turbine control, hardware-in-loop simulation, power plant control and high-reliability industrial VME chassis.
Working principle
Intel ULV Celeron processor executes real-time operating system and user control application. PCI-to-VME transparent bridge chip implements full VME master and slave capability to access registers and memory of other VME peripheral modules. PMC slot extends system function by mounting mezzanine I/O or communication boards. Dual Ethernet controllers handle redundant network data transmission; multi-protocol UART chips drive configurable RS serial ports. Battery-backed RTC retains system time and nonvolatile SRAM preserves critical parameters during power outage. CompactFlash or IDE stores boot firmware and application image. Hardware watchdog continuously monitors software heartbeat; timeout event triggers hardware reset or fault interrupt to avoid system hang. VME interrupt controller accepts interrupt signals from peripheral VME modules and forwards to CPU core.

Installation
Follow ESD safety procedure before handling. Fully power off VME chassis. Insert VMIC-7700 into vacant 6U VME slot and lock front panel ejector latches. Install PMC mezzanine module if required. Connect front panel Ethernet, serial, USB and VGA peripherals. Power on chassis and enter BIOS to configure boot sequence and watchdog parameters. Install OS and VMIC VME drivers, run POST and full peripheral diagnostic before commissioning.
Interface
VME J1/J2 backplane connector, PMC mezzanine site, dual RJ45 10/100 Ethernet, dual DB9 serial ports, VGA video, dual USB1.1, CompactFlash slot, fault status signal pins.
Diagnostic
Board fails POST: faulty SODIMM memory, defective CPU chip or abnormal backplane power. VME block transfer unstable: poor backplane contact, missing bus termination, PCI-VME bridge hardware fault. Network link failure: damaged cable, PHY chip damage or duplex mismatch. RTC and SRAM data loss: backup battery depletion. Watchdog fails to trigger: wrong BIOS watchdog parameter setup.
