Products Description
VMIC VMIVME-2330 Digital I/O TurboModule Board

Module Feature
VMIVME-2330 is a single-slot 6U VMEbus TTL digital I/O TurboModule developed by VMIC (GE Fanuc / Abaco Systems). It provides total 64 TTL discrete I/O channels, divided into eight independent 8-bit ports;each port can be configured as input or output via onboard hardware jumpers. Logic polarity (high-true / low-true) is also configurable by jumper setting. Each channel supports 24 mA sink and 6.5 mA source drive capability, suited for driving TTL level field sensors and actuators. VME bus interface adopts A16 short I/O addressing, supports D08/D16/D32 data transfer, works purely as VME slave module. Dual 64-pin DIN 41612 front connectors provide field signal interface with alternate ground pin layout to reduce signal crosstalk. Built-in BIT diagnostic circuit can read back actual I/O state and compare with programmed output value to detect stuck-high / stuck-low channel faults. Rugged Eurocard PCB with conformal coating, shock and vibration screened for power plant cabinet environment, widely used in gas/steam turbine discrete interlock control, aerospace ground test bench and hardware-in-loop real-time simulation VME chassis.
Working principle
VME host writes port direction configuration and target logic level to onboard I/O registers. For output mode, the TTL driver outputs logic signal to external field devices;for input mode, the receiver samples external TTL level and feeds digital data back onto VME bus. BIT function performs output readback comparison to verify channel integrity. VME FPGA completes address decoding and bidirectional data handshake between VME backplane and I/O register bank. Onboard ESD protection clamps transient surge noise coming from field cables.
Onboard components
VME interface FPGA,eight ×8-bit I/O register bank,TTL driver/receiver array,port direction & polarity jumper bank,BIT fault detection logic,VME J1/J2 edge connector,front-panel dual 64 pin DIN I/O connectors.
LED indicators
No dedicated fault LED;BIT fault status is read via VME status register.
Hardware self-diagnosis
Visual inspection of PCB,components and solder joints;board ID register readback verification;per-port I/O channel readback test;VME A16 read/write communication validation.
Programming software
VMIC digital I/O driver library and configuration utility, supports VxWorks,Linux and QNX real-time operating systems;software tool for port mode setup and BIT fault log reading.
