Module Feature

2431167-900 is factory-calibrated eddy current proximitor conditioner designed for non-contact shaft displacement measurement.

It provides stable high-frequency RF excitation signal to proximity probe coil, processes impedance feedback signal and converts probe-to-target gap into linear DC voltage output. It integrates built-in cable and probe fault detection for open circuit, short circuit and abnormal impedance. It is compatible with fixed capacitance extension cable and matching proximity probe. It is widely deployed in gas turbine, steam turbine and centrifugal compressor bearing housing monitoring rack, stocked as critical maintenance spare for power plant and oil & gas machinery protection system.

Working principle

High-frequency oscillator inside module sends RF excitation signal through coaxial cable to probe tip coil.

Eddy current is induced on the surface of conductive rotating shaft, which changes the coil impedance according to clearance variation. The conditioner circuit demodulates and amplifies impedance signal to generate proportional gap voltage. The analog gap signal is transmitted to host monitoring system for vibration trending, keyphasor speed capture, alarm trigger and machinery trip interlock.

Onboard components

RF oscillation unit, signal demodulation & linear amplification circuit, probe fault comparator, status LED array, coaxial probe connector, backplane edge connector, metal shielding housing and power regulation circuit.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate module power normal, probe active, gap within range, probe fault and signal loss alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in continuous supervision detects probe open, short circuit, cable failure and signal out of linear range. Fault status and gap voltage value can be viewed from supporting monitoring host software.

Programming software

System 1, used for channel setup, gap voltage verification, alarm threshold configuration and fault event record query.

Installation

Power off the monitoring rack before replacement.

Use the matched probe and calibrated extension cable, lock coaxial connectors securely, set initial probe gap, verify stable gap voltage and waveform after commissioning.

Interface

Coaxial port for probe extension cable, backplane bus connector for power and signal output, status indicator interface.

Diagnostic

Probe fault alarm: Cable internal break, short circuit, contaminated connector or damaged probe coil. Gap voltage drifting: Wrong cable capacitance grade, loose probe nut or shaft surface scratch. Signal noise: Shielding damage, poor grounding or cross interference with power cable.
