Module Feature

1SFA894015R7000 is a compact PSR series soft starter manufactured by ABB. It integrates SCR power circuit and built-in bypass contactor. After motor ramp-up completes, the bypass closes to bypass the thyristors and reduce heat loss. It supports adjustable starting voltage ramp, current limit and soft stop function. Internal protections include phase loss, motor overload, overheat and SCR fault detection. Compact DIN rail / panel mounting design, widely stocked as spare for HVAC, water pump and conveyor control cabinets.

Working principle

The soft starter adjusts motor terminal voltage by phase control of SCR thyristors. Voltage rises gradually during start-up to limit starting surge current. When the motor reaches full speed, the built-in bypass contactor closes. During stop sequence, voltage decreases slowly to achieve soft stop and avoid water hammer or mechanical shock. The control board samples three-phase current continuously and triggers trip when fault condition is detected.

Onboard components

Three-phase SCR stack, current sampling circuit, main control PCB, integrated bypass contactor, cooling fan, status indicator panel and plastic metal composite housing.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, run, fault and bypass active status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Installation

Cut off three-phase main power before replacement. Fix soft starter on cabinet backplate, connect three-phase input and motor output cables, wire control and start/stop signal circuit, set ramp and current limit parameters, verify start, stop and bypass function after commissioning.

Diagnostic
