Module Feature

GSD80385VAB4-2 is Bitzer Orbit8 series hermetic scroll refrigeration compressor, VA code for air-cooled system version, B means brazed stub tube connection.

It uses R410A refrigerant, built-in PTC temperature sensor for motor winding overheat protection, low oil carryover design, stable part-load efficiency. This model is widely applied on air-cooled chillers and reversible heat pump units, can run alone or form tandem/ trio combination. It has no internal oil level sight glass, needs external oil monitoring accessories.

Working principle

Motor drives fixed scroll and orbiting scroll meshing, gas is compressed continuously in crescent-shaped closed cavity.

Low-pressure refrigerant vapor is sucked in, compressed into high temperature and high pressure gas and discharged to condenser. Internal oil pump supplies lubricating oil to scroll tooth and bearing. If liquid slugging occurs, scroll tip will crack and cause unit failure.

Onboard components

Scroll pair (fixed + orbiting scroll), built-in permanent magnet motor, internal oil pump, PTC temperature sensor, discharge check valve, oil separator structure, brazed suction/discharge stub ports, terminal box.

LED indicators

No built-in indicator lamp. Compressor running status and fault alarm display on chiller controller.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

The compressor itself has no independent self-check; protection signal from PTC is collected by unit controller. Controller judges overheat, phase loss, overcurrent, discharge over temperature fault.

Programming software

Chiller controller software for capacity regulation, suction superheat control and fault record viewing.

Installation

Fix compressor on vibration isolation base. Connect suction and discharge copper pipe by brazing, avoid excessive heat transfer into shell.

Connect three-phase power to terminal box. Complete evacuation, refrigerant charging and oil level inspection. Prevent liquid flood-back and slugging during operation.

Diagnostic

Compressor locked rotor: Liquid refrigerant migration, bearing lack of lubrication.

Discharge overheat alarm: Superheat too low or too high.
