Eaton Cooper FC18 Fire Fan Controller Unit

Module Feature

FC18 is a rack-mounted addressable fan controller from Eaton Cooper fire system. It can accommodate 3 pcs FC6 fan control sub-modules, supporting maximum 18 fan channels for smoke extraction and pressurization fans. It occupies only one address on fire communication loop, each channel supports fan start command and feedback status monitoring. It has key switch for auto/manual mode switching, built-in short circuit isolator and channel status LED indication. Widely stocked as spare for building fire smoke control cabinet, tunnel and data centre fire linkage system.

Working principle

The controller receives fire alarm trigger command from CF3000 fire panel via communication loop. It outputs dry contact control signal to fan starter and collects fan running feedback contact signal. When fire signal resets, it executes fan stop logic. Each fan channel can be programmed with cause-and-effect logic via configuration software, fault signal will be uploaded to fire panel for fault alert.

Onboard components

Main CPU board, communication loop interface, FC6 sub-module slot, relay output circuit, feedback input circuit, status LED array, key operated mode switch and 3U 19-inch rack bezel.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, communication normal, fan run, fan fault and alarm status per channel.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Unit continuously monitors loop communication, output relay circuit and feedback line integrity. Fan logic and interlock parameters are programmable.

Programming software

Cooper Site Installer Software, used for fan channel mapping, cause-effect programming and fault log reading.

Installation

Cut off 24V DC supply before replacement. Insert FC6 sub-modules into FC18 bezel, install assembly into 19-inch rack, wire fire communication loop, fan control output and feedback cables, download cause-effect configuration, test auto fire trigger and manual fan control function after commissioning.

Interface

Fire loop communication terminals, 24V DC power terminals, fan control relay output terminals, fan status feedback input terminals.

Diagnostic

Communication fault: Fire loop wiring break or short circuit. Fan feedback missing: Auxiliary contact loose or wiring open. Cannot trigger fan: Relay output damage or interlock logic blocking.
