System compatibility

MGBIC-02 is Extreme original copper SFP mini-GBIC transceiver. Compatible with Extreme series switches equipped with SFP slots, including 4220,5320,5420,ERS3600,A-series,D-series,S-series platforms. Note: This copper SFP cannot work with MACsec enabled on SFP+ ports.

Function

MGBIC-02 converts SFP fiber slot into 1000BASE-T copper RJ45 port. It enables users to use regular Cat5 copper network cable on SFP port, without deploying optical fiber. Auto negotiation supports 10/100/1000 speed. Hot pluggable for flexible port expansion.

Installation

Power on the switch, insert MGBIC-02 module into empty SFP slot until it clicks. Plug Cat5e RJ45 cable into module RJ45 port. Verify port link status via switch CLI or web management. Use Cat5e cable and keep cable length within 100 meters.
