System compatibility

VIM4-40G4X is dedicated VIM4 expansion module for Summit X670V series switches only, cannot be used on X480/X650. Compatible with Extreme certified QSFP+ transceivers and fanout DAC cables. Supports native SummitStack-V160 and V320 stacking modes. All stacked switch members must run matching ExtremeXOS firmware. Ports can be used for regular high-speed uplink or dedicated stacking links.

Function

VIM4-40G4X is rear high-speed expansion module for Summit X670V switches. It adds four QSFP+ 40G ports to host device. Each QSFP+ port can run native 40G for backbone uplink, or split into four independent 10G ports with 1-to-4 fanout cable to expand 10G port quantity. This module supports native SummitStack-V stacking, multiple X670V switches can be combined as one logical switch. Widely used for enterprise core uplink, data center aggregation and high-speed stacking cluster expansion.

Installation

Power off Summit X670V host switch. Wear ESD anti-static wrist strap, remove blank panel from rear VIM4 slot. Insert VIM4-40G4X module firmly and tighten captive screws. Power on switch, verify module recognition via ExtremeXOS CLI. Insert QSFP+ transceivers or fanout cables, configure port speed / breakout and SummitStack-V stacking mode as required.
