Function

VIM5-2Y is a versatile uplink expansion module designed for X465 and VSP4900 switches. It provides two SFP28 interfaces for high-speed fiber uplink. Users can set port speed between 10G and 25G via CLI without rebooting the switch. This module extends switch uplink bandwidth for connecting to core switches or server racks. Widely deployed for campus aggregation and data center top-of-rack network upgrade spare replacement.

Installation

Follow ESD protection procedure. Power off the host switch before installation, VIM5-2Y is not hot-swappable. Insert VIM5-2Y into dedicated VIM slot and fasten locking screws. Power the switch back on. Access CLI to set VIM speed (10G/25G). Insert SFP28 transceivers and fiber cables, configure VLAN and uplink policy. Verify port link status after configuration.
