GE 9F60LJN312 Medium Voltage Fuse Unit

Module Feature

9F60LJN312 belongs to GE Amp-Trap 9F60 series. It is an R-rated backup medium voltage current limiting fuse, specially designed for GE medium voltage motors and motor controllers. This fuse adopts epoxy insulated barrel structure, with high interrupting capacity up to 50kA. It must be used in coordination with motor overload relay to form complete motor protection scheme. Ferrule terminal structure, installed by spring reinforced clip holder. Widely applied in power plant, petrochemical and water treatment medium voltage motor starter cabinets for short circuit backup protection.

Working principle

When short-circuit fault occurs in the protected GE motor circuit, the internal fuse element melts instantly. The quartz sand filler inside the fuse barrel quenches electric arc rapidly, cuts off short-circuit current within extremely short time, to protect medium voltage motor and GE control equipment from destructive fault current damage. For overload condition, it needs to cooperate with overload relay to realize protection.

Installation

Cut off medium voltage power supply and complete lockout-tagout before replacement. Insert fuse into matched spring clip holder of GE motor starter, ensure both ferrule terminals are fully contacted. Check mechanical clamping condition. Restore power only after cabinet door closed and safety interlock reset.

Diagnostic

Fuse blown: internal element rupture caused by short-circuit fault. High VSWR: cylinder crack or surface contamination. Poor contact: loose clip holder or corroded ferrule.
