GE 9F62FDD150 Medium Voltage Fuse Unit

Module Feature

9F62FDD150 belongs to GE Amp-Trap 9F62 series. It is an R-rated backup medium voltage current limiting fuse, specially designed for GE medium voltage motors and motor starter controllers. This fuse adopts epoxy insulated cylindrical structure, featuring high short-circuit interrupting capacity. It needs to work together with motor overload relay to realize full motor protection function. Ferrule terminal construction, installed in spring clip holder inside medium voltage cabinet. Widely used in power station, petrochemical and water treatment medium voltage motor control cabinets for short circuit backup protection.

Working principle

When short-circuit fault appears in protected GE motor circuit, internal fuse element will melt immediately. Quartz sand filler inside the fuse cylinder quickly extinguishes electric arc, breaking short-circuit current in a very short time to safeguard medium voltage motor and GE control devices from damage caused by large fault current. Overload protection relies on matching overload relay.

Installation

Cut off medium voltage power supply and perform lockout-tagout before replacement. Insert fuse into matched spring clip holder of GE motor starter, guarantee full contact of both ferrule terminals. Inspect clamping condition. Restore power only after cabinet door closed and safety interlock reset.

Diagnostic

Fuse blown: internal element rupture due to short-circuit fault. Insulation failure: cylinder crack or surface contamination. Poor contact: loose clip holder or corroded ferrule.
