GE SS1806X Bus Plug Unit

Module Feature

SS1806X belongs to GE Spectra SS busway series. It is a plug-in non-fusible tap designed for GE Spectra sandwich busway system, 3-pole 4-wire with ground, rated 60A, max voltage 600VAC. This bus plug has no built-in fuse, relying on upstream protective devices for overcurrent and short-circuit protection. It is equipped with manual disconnect handle and mechanical safety interlock mechanism to prevent cover opening under energized condition. Aluminum powder coated housing with robust contact assembly, supports quick plug-in installation and removal. Widely applied in factory low voltage trunk distribution, production line power supply and industrial busway systems where upstream protection is already configured.

Working principle

GE SS1806X bus plug is inserted and locked onto Spectra busway. Internal contact block establishes electrical connection with main bus bar to draw power for downstream branch loads. The disconnect handle provides visible isolation gap for maintenance lockout-tagout. Mechanical interlock prohibits opening terminal compartment while the plug is energized. Protection functions are provided by upstream circuit breaker or fuse device.

Installation

Follow lockout-tagout safety procedure before operation. Align GE SS1806X bus plug with Spectra busway guide rail, insert and lock the latch. Tighten downstream load cable lugs. Test handle on-off operation and verify interlock function before power restoration. Confirm upstream protection device is properly sized for branch circuit.

Interface

Busway plug-in contact interface, load outgoing screw terminals, grounding terminal.

Diagnostic

Plug overheating: poor contact or contact surface oxidation. Handle cannot operate: interlock mechanism stuck. Load loss: busway contact failure or upstream protective device tripped.
