Module Feature

G2 R5000 is HPE G2 series VFI online double-conversion rack UPS, rated 5000VA / 4500W single-phase, 3U compact rack form factor. It adopts DSP digital control, providing stable pure sine wave output, zero transfer time during mains failure. It is equipped with hot-swappable internal VRLA battery modules and enhanced battery management to extend battery life. Two programmable independent load groups support staged shutdown to preserve runtime for priority loads. A built-in network management module enables SNMP, HTTP web monitoring and graceful shutdown integration with VMware and HPE SimpliVity. It supports up to four ERM extended runtime battery cabinets to extend backup duration. REPO remote emergency power-off interface is standard for safety interlock. Widely used for server racks, network closets, industrial edge control cabinets and hyper-converged infrastructure.

Working principle

Normal mains power is rectified to DC, then inverted continuously to regulated AC for protected loads. Internal batteries float on DC bus and supply inverter instantly when mains is lost. Static bypass switch activates automatically under inverter fault or heavy overload to pass raw utility power to loads. Network card collects voltage, load ratio, battery health and alarm data for remote monitoring and automatic virtual machine shutdown.

Onboard components

PFC rectifier, IGBT inverter bridge, static bypass assembly, hot-swap VRLA battery packs, battery management controller, network management module, color LCD control panel, cooling fan array, load segment relay board, REPO safety circuit.

LED indicators

Front panel status LEDs for mains supply, battery mode, bypass status, overload and system fault; LCD shows voltage, load percentage, remaining runtime, temperature and fault codes.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Self-diagnosis covers input out-of-range, battery degradation, low battery, overload, internal overtemperature, fan stall, bypass mismatch and network communication failure. Fault logs and battery event records are stored locally and available via web interface.

Programming software

HPE Power Protector, Eaton Intelligent Power Manager; embedded web server for configuration, firmware upgrade, alarm setting and load schedule editing.

Installation

Install into standard 19-inch equipment rack. Connect AC input and grouped load output cables. Connect Ethernet cable to network management port and wire REPO circuit if required. Configure load shedding rules and shutdown scripts via web page. Perform battery self-test and bypass function verification before commissioning. Schedule periodic battery health inspection.

Diagnostic

Short backup runtime: Battery aging, incomplete charging or defective battery cells. Overload alarm: Connected load exceeds 4500W rated power. Over-temperature fault: Fan failure, blocked air intake or high ambient temperature. Network offline: Ethernet cable damage, wrong IP configuration or network module fault.
