Products Description
Megger DIGIPHONE Fault Locator Receiver Unit

Module Feature
DIGIPHONE is an acoustic fault detection receiver from Megger cable test product family.
It captures the shock wave and sound signal generated by flashover breakdown at underground cable fault point. It features noise suppression algorithm, visual directional indicator and headphone audio output. It works with surge generator or thumper test set, and supports both acoustic and electromagnetic signal tracing modes. It is widely deployed for medium and high voltage underground cable maintenance in power stations, substations and municipal power networks.
Working principle
When high voltage surge pulse discharges at cable fault location, it creates acoustic shock wave and electromagnetic pulse.
The ground sensor picks up the vibration sound signal, and the built-in circuit amplifies and filters background noise. The unit displays direction and signal strength, guiding technicians to walk toward the exact fault coordinate.
Onboard components
Main display receiver unit, ground contact geophone sensor, noise canceling headphones, signal cable, rechargeable battery pack, carrying hard case.
LED indicators
Front LEDs indicate power status, signal strength, peak capture and low battery warning.
Hardware self‑diagnosis
Built-in supervision detects sensor disconnection, low battery and internal signal circuit anomaly. Fault prompt is shown on the local screen.
Programming software
Not applicable.
