Module Feature

PRE463RR1U5 is factory coded model of Rotork PRE compact quarter-turn electric actuator.

It is designed for rotary on-off valves including ball valve, butterfly valve and plug valve. Built-in torque monitoring module, open/close limit switches, local handwheel for manual override. Front local selector switch supports Local / Remote / Stop mode. Equipped with 4‑20mA position transmitter for DCS position indication, internal anti-condensation heater is standard. Enclosure protection IP67, explosion-proof certification optional. Widely stocked as maintenance spare for process pipeline, water treatment and refinery valve skid.

Working principle

When receiving open or close command, drive motor outputs torque through reduction gear set.

Torque sensor continuously monitors output load; once over-torque threshold is reached, motor power cuts off immediately to protect valve and actuator. Limit switches stop operation when arriving at fully open or fully closed position. Position sensor converts shaft angle into 4-20mA analog signal and transmits valve position to control system. Handwheel can be operated manually under power-off condition.

Onboard components

Induction motor, worm reduction gear assembly, torque detection unit, open-close limit switch bank, manual handwheel mechanism, local control switch, 4-20mA position transmitter, space heater, terminal block and cast aluminum housing.

LED indicators

Front panel LED indicators: Open, Close, Fault, Remote.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects over-torque, motor overheat, limit switch fault and internal wiring failure. Parameter configuration and fault log download are completed by Rotork Insight software.

Installation

Disconnect actuator power supply before replacement.

Align ISO flange interface, complete power and signal wiring, set open/close limit and torque value, test handwheel operation, remote command and 4-20mA feedback signal after commissioning.

Diagnostic

Over-torque trip: Valve jamming, torque parameter set too low. No action: Control power missing, interlock condition blocked, motor winding damage. Position signal drift: Transmitter aging, calibration offset.
