Module Feature

7VK6101-5AB92-4YP0/EE is a compact numerical breaker management relay from Siemens SIPROTEC 7VK61 series.

It is dedicated for medium voltage circuit breaker control and condition supervision. It integrates breaker travel monitoring, spring charge status check, single-pole or three-pole auto-reclosure, synchronism check and dead-line detection. It records breaker operation counts, fault events and oscillography data. The 1/3 19” slim form factor saves panel space. It supports Modbus and DIGSI communication interface. Widely stocked as spare for power distribution substation, industrial MV switchgear and generator interlock cabinet.

Working principle

Current and voltage transformers feed analog signals to the relay’s measurement channels.

The internal CPU samples electrical values and dry contact status from breaker auxiliary switches, spring motor and position sensors. It executes synchronism check logic before closing command, controls auto-reclose sequence after fault tripping, and logs every switching event. It sends status, alarm and fault information to SCADA system via communication bus.

Onboard components

Analog sampling circuit, main CPU, binary input isolation circuit, relay output contact group, LCD text display, front operation keypad, backplane communication interface and metal front panel assembly.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power OK, run, trip, alarm and breaker status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Continuous internal monitoring of power supply, measurement channels, output relays and memory. Settings and event records can be reviewed on local display.

Programming software

DIGSI 4, used for function configuration, auto-reclose logic setup, event record reading and firmware upgrade.

Installation

Cut off DC auxiliary supply before replacement.

Insert relay into 19-inch rack slot, lock fixing screws, wire CT/PT signals, breaker auxiliary contacts and DC control supply, download setting file in DIGSI 4, test close, trip and auto-reclose sequence after commissioning.

Interface

CT / VT analog input terminals, binary input terminals, relay output terminals, RS485 DIGSI communication port, DC auxiliary power terminal.

Diagnostic

Auto-reclose failure: Synchronism condition not satisfied, blocking signal active. Breaker position mismatch: Auxiliary contact wiring error. Communication loss: Bus cable open, wrong device address.
