Module Feature

GXT5-20KIRT9UXLN is the Vertiv Liebert GXT5 VFI online double-conversion UPS, rated 20kVA / 20kW at PF=1.0, 230V AC single-phase input and output. It is a 9U chassis unit with factory-installed internal VRLA hot-swappable battery modules and preloaded RDU101 network management card. The VFI topology delivers zero transfer time pure sine-wave output to protect sensitive electronics against voltage sags, surges, harmonics and mains blackouts. It supports dual operating modes: high-efficiency ECO mode up to 99% efficiency for stable mains conditions, and full online mode up to 95.9% efficiency. Programmable output load groups support sequenced load shedding to preserve runtime for priority equipment. External battery cabinets can be connected to extend backup duration. It includes generator-compatible input filtering, built-in surge suppression, and a color LCD panel with gravity auto-rotation for rack or tower orientation. Typical applications include edge servers, network closets, industrial control panels and medical automation systems.

Working principle

Under normal mains supply, AC power is rectified to DC and continuously inverted back to regulated clean AC to feed the protected load. Internal batteries float on the DC bus and instantly supply power once mains power fails. If the UPS inverter encounters a fault or sustained overload, the static bypass switch activates to pass raw utility power directly to the load without interruption. The RDU101 card captures voltage, load percentage, battery health, temperature and alarm events for remote monitoring and automatic graceful shutdown.

Onboard components

PFC rectifier, IGBT inverter bridge, static bypass relay, hot-swappable VRLA battery modules, battery management controller, RDU101 SNMP / HTTP network card, color LCD and keypad, cooling fan array, input circuit breaker, programmable output relay board, external battery communication port.

LED indicators

Front LEDs for mains present, battery operation, bypass active, overload and system fault; local color display shows voltage, load, remaining runtime, temperature and fault codes.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Self-diagnosis covers input out-of-range, battery low voltage / aging, overload, internal overtemperature, fan failure, bypass mismatch and network card communication loss. Fault logs and battery event history are saved in local memory and web interface.

Programming software

Vertiv Power Assist, Vertiv Power Insight; embedded web server for configuration, firmware upgrade, alarm setup and trend data export.

Installation

Install in standard 19-inch rack or tower orientation. Connect AC input and protected load output wiring. Plug Ethernet cable into the RDU101 port. Configure load group schedules, shutdown actions and alarm contacts via the web interface. Perform battery test and bypass verification before putting the system into service. Schedule periodic battery health checks.

Diagnostic
