Products Description
VMIC VMIVME-4116 Analog Output DAC Board

Module Feature
VMIVME-4116 is a single-slot 6U VMEbus high precision digital-to-analog converter board developed by VMIC (GE Fanuc / Abaco Systems). It integrates eight independent 16-bit DAC channels, each channel equipped with dedicated DAC chip and double-buffered data latch structure. Analog output range is ±10 V buffered voltage, maximum output current 5 mA,settling time within 10 µs to reach ±0.003% of full scale range,1 LSB resolution 305 µV. It supports offset binary or two’s complement digital coding format. Synchronized update control can be configured via onboard jumpers, users can choose software strobe or external hardware trigger to refresh all DAC outputs simultaneously. The board supports VMIC AMXbus analog expansion and BIT bus,can interconnect with matched VMIC ADC boards for closed-loop self-test. Front panel fitted with fault indicator LED and high-reliability DIN type output connector. When power-up,all analog outputs reset to 0.0 V and automatically disconnect field wiring to protect downstream equipment. Rugged Eurocard PCB with conformal coating, shock and vibration screened for power plant cabinet environment, widely used in gas/steam turbine analog actuator control, aerospace ground test bench and hardware-in-loop real-time simulation VME chassis.
Working principle
VME host writes 16-bit digital value into the double-buffered latch of each DAC channel through VME bus. Data is stored in first-stage buffer temporarily and will not update analog output immediately until receiving software strobe or external hardware trigger signal. After trigger arrives, data transfers to DAC conversion register, converts digital signal to stable ±10 V analog voltage and outputs through buffer circuit. AMXbus multiplexes analog signals to cooperate with matched ADC board to realize BIT closed-loop test, verifying conversion accuracy of each DAC channel. VME FPGA completes address decoding and bidirectional register read/write handshake between VME backplane and control status register. Onboard surge suppression circuit protects analog output ports from transient interference of field cables.
