Whitlock 000505-023 DNFT Instrument Battery Unit

Module Feature

000505-023 is the connectorized version of Whitlock 000505 lithium battery, matched for DNFT and DNFT-PRG digital no-flow timer instruments.

It adopts lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) chemistry, non-rechargeable primary cell, rated 3.6V /1200mAh. It features ultra-low self-discharge rate, stable output voltage and long storage life, suitable for remote, unattended oil and gas field site. Equipped with polarized waterproof plug, prevents reverse connection during replacement. It is a consumable spare, widely used on pipeline pump, compressor and wellhead no-flow shutdown protection devices.

Working principle

The battery provides continuous stable DC power for DNFT no-flow timer circuit.

When the flow sensor detects zero flow, the instrument starts timing. If no flow recovers within set time, the instrument outputs shutdown alarm signal to protect rotating equipment. Battery voltage monitoring circuit sends low-battery warning before depletion.

Onboard components

Li-SOCl2 cylindrical cell, built-in protection circuit, insulated heat shrink sleeve, polarized wiring plug, pull tab for easy extraction.

LED indicators

Not applicable, battery itself has no indicator; low battery alarm is displayed on DNFT host instrument.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Battery health is detected by DNFT host board. The instrument monitors terminal voltage and triggers low battery warning when voltage drops below threshold.

Installation

Isolate equipment and bypass protection loop before replacement.

Unplug old battery, connect polarized new plug, insert battery into cavity, restore instrument and clear low battery alarm.

Diagnostic

Low battery alarm: Cell exhausted, replace battery immediately. Instrument no power: Plug loose, reverse polarity or internal cell open circuit.
