7400072-001 Eddy Current Proximity Probe Unit

Module Feature

7400072-001 is factory calibrated eddy current proximity probe assembly for online shaft condition monitoring.

It adopts high frequency eddy current sensing principle, sealed stainless steel probe body, built-in coil and insulation dielectric. It is matched with proximitor and calibrated extension cable, provides stable gap voltage output. It can be installed on bearing housing to measure shaft radial vibration, axial thrust position and key-phasor speed signal. It is explosion-proof optional, suitable for oil & gas, petrochemical and power plant turbomachinery rack maintenance spare.

Working principle

Proximitor sends high-frequency RF excitation signal to the probe coil.

Alternating magnetic field generated by the coil induces eddy current on the rotating shaft surface. The impedance of probe coil changes with the metal gap distance between probe tip and shaft. The impedance variation is converted to proportional voltage signal, then transmitted back to proximitor module for vibration and gap value calculation.

Onboard components

Eddy current coil, PEEK probe tip insulation, 316L stainless steel probe body, internal lead wire, sealed strain relief, standard coaxial connector.

LED indicators

Not applicable, passive probe assembly without indicator. The gap voltage and fault status are displayed on monitor rack channel.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

No independent self-diagnosis. The monitor rack judges probe fault by gap voltage out-of-range, open circuit and short circuit alarm.

Programming software

System 1, used for vibration channel configuration, gap setup and vibration trend analysis.

Installation

Lock power and stop machine before disassembly.

Adjust probe gap to target gap voltage, lock lock nut firmly, avoid collision to probe tip, test channel health after installation.

Coaxial connector matched with extension cable.

Diagnostic

Gap voltage drift: Probe tip scratched, cable mismatch or mechanical looseness. Channel fault alarm: Probe internal open/short circuit, connector corrosion. Vibration signal noisy: Probe vibration resonance or shaft surface defect.
