EV-AIO Analog I/O Module Unit

Module Feature

EV-AIO is a general-purpose analog combined input and output module for industrial automation control rack.

It integrates analog input channels and analog output channels on one PCB. Each channel supports configurable current (4-20mA) or voltage (0-10V) signal mode. Built-in channel-to-channel galvanic isolation to suppress common-mode interference. It communicates with the backplane controller via internal bus, supports hot swap in compatible rack system. It is widely stocked as replacement spare for chemical, power plant and water treatment DCS cabinet.

Working principle

Field analog signals from transmitters are sampled and converted into digital values by AD converter on the module.

Digital data is uploaded to DCS controller through rack backplane bus. The module receives digital control command from controller and converts it into standard analog output signal to drive valve positioner and regulating actuator. Isolation circuit blocks ground loop noise between field devices and control rack.

Onboard components

Signal conditioning circuit, AD/DA conversion chip, isolated power supply, backplane communication transceiver, channel status LED array, terminal interface circuit, PCB assembly and metal shielding shell.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate module power, RUN status, channel fault and communication link status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects overrange signal, open circuit, short circuit, power loss and communication timeout. Fault information can be viewed on DCS workstation diagnostic page.

Programming software

DCS configuration tool, used for channel signal type selection, range scaling and alarm threshold setting.

Installation

Power off the rack or follow hot-swap operation procedure.

Match backplane slot and lock module firmly, wire shielded signal cable and single-point ground shield, perform channel calibration after commissioning.

Interface

Backplane bus connector, field signal terminal block, 24VDC auxiliary power terminal.

Diagnostic

Channel fault alarm: Field cable open, short circuit or transmitter failure. Signal drift: Ground loop interference or channel calibration lost. Module offline: Backplane bus failure, slot communication error or module hardware damage.
