Module Feature

1MRB150082M0002 is a core control printed circuit board for ABB generator excitation system. It collects generator voltage, current and rotor excitation feedback signals, implements automatic voltage regulation, limit protection and excitation pulse trigger algorithm. It supports redundant hot standby configuration and multiple protection logics including over-excitation, under-excitation, overvoltage and loss of field. It communicates with upper excitation controller via internal bus. Widely stocked as spare for thermal power, hydropower and distributed generation excitation cabinets.

Working principle

AC voltage and current signals from generator PT/CT are conditioned and sampled by the board. The microprocessor compares measured terminal voltage with setpoint value, calculates excitation adjustment quantity and outputs firing pulse to thyristor rectifier bridge. When abnormal operating condition is detected, it triggers excitation limit or trip signal to protect generator and excitation equipment. Fault codes and operation records are stored onboard for later review.

Onboard components

Signal conditioning circuit, A/D sampling module, FPGA/CPU control unit, pulse output drive circuit, watchdog circuit, EEPROM memory, communication transceiver and terminal connector bank.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, run, excitation active, alarm and fault status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Board monitors reference signal loss, pulse channel fault, communication failure and internal power supply abnormality. Regulation parameters and protection thresholds can be downloaded via excitation configuration tool.

Programming software

ABB excitation system configuration software, used for voltage setpoint tuning, protection parameter setting and fault history reading.

Installation

Cut off rack power before replacement. Align board with backplane slot and insert firmly, lock front screw, wire sampling CT/PT, pulse and communication terminals, download excitation parameter set, verify AVR regulation and protection function after commissioning.

Diagnostic
