ABB NBRA-657 Braking Chopper

Feature & Principle

It is an external dynamic braking chopper for ABB high-power inverters. When the motor decelerates, the motor feeds back regenerative electric energy to the DC bus of the frequency converter. This chopper controls the on-off of the power IGBT, guides the excess energy to the external braking resistor for heat dissipation, stabilizes the DC link voltage and avoids overvoltage trip of the drive. It supports multiple choppers synchronous parallel connection to meet large power braking demand.
