Module Feature

BRS-RAC2-8200A is Bosch Security BRS series 2U rack-mounted dedicated video recording appliance, equipped with 16TB built-in hard disk array.

It comes with factory pre-installed Bosch Recording Station management software, default supports 8 IP video channels, can expand channels through software license. It supports Bosch and third-party IP cameras, video compression includes H.264, MPEG4 and JPEG, up to 2048×1536 3MP resolution. Built-in RAID5 data protection, avoid single disk damage leading to video loss. It has multi-level user authority management, remote live view, playback and motion search functions. Widely used in factory, commercial building and campus security monitoring system.

Working principle

The device receives real-time video stream from network IP camera through Ethernet port, encodes and stores video data to hard disk array.

Users can view live image or retrieve historical recording locally or remotely via BRS viewer software. When motion detection or alarm signal is triggered, the system can link recording and send alarm notification. RAID5 mechanism realizes data redundancy protection.

Onboard components

Industrial server motherboard, multi-port network card, 16TB hard disk group, RAID controller, cooling fan module, power supply unit, front status indicator panel, USB and DVI interface.

LED indicators

Front panel LEDs indicate power, running, hard disk status, fan fault and over-temperature alarm.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in self-check covers hard disk failure, RAID abnormality, fan stop, overheating, network disconnection and system service exception. Fault information is displayed on local interface and recorded in log.

Programming software

Bosch BRS management software for channel addition, recording schedule setting, user permission configuration and video playback export.

Installation

Install the recorder in well-ventilated standard 19-inch cabinet. Connect network cable to camera LAN, connect power and display if needed.

Log into the system, activate camera channel license, set recording plan and alarm rules. Regularly check hard disk health and clean fan dust.

Interface

Diagnostic

No video recording: Camera network unreachable, license not activated, storage full.

RAID fault: One hard disk damaged, need replacement and rebuild array.
