Module Feature

2404819-1 is Caterpillar original hydraulic cylinder seal overhaul kit. It is assembled with rod seal, piston seal, wear ring, backup ring and multiple O-rings.

The sealing components adopt PU and PTFE composite formula, good wear resistance and anti-extrusion performance, adapt to high pressure hydraulic oil working condition. This kit is used for one complete hydraulic cylinder disassembly and overhaul, preventing internal leakage and external oil seepage of cylinder. Widely matched on CAT crawler dozer, excavator and loader hydraulic cylinder.

Working principle

Rod seal prevents hydraulic oil leaking outward along piston rod. Piston seal isolates pressure difference between rod side and cap side of cylinder.

Wear ring supports piston and rod to avoid metal contact friction. O-rings and backup rings provide static sealing at gland and piston groove. If any seal fails, hydraulic cylinder will appear slow action or pressure holding loss.

Onboard components

Rod U-seal, piston seal, PTFE wear ring, anti-extrusion backup ring, nitrile O-rings, dust wiper seal.

LED indicators

No built-in indicator lamp. Seal failure is judged by cylinder action slow, oil leakage and pressure drop.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

No electronic self-diagnosis. Inspection relies on visual oil leakage, functional test and pressure retention test.

Installation

Clean cylinder barrel, piston, rod and seal grooves completely before assembly. Install seals in sequence according to kit drawing, avoid sharp thread scratching seal lip.

Lubricate seals with clean hydraulic oil during installation. Adjust gland tightening torque after assembly. Complete pressure holding test before putting into service.

Interface

Fit grooves on piston and rod gland of hydraulic cylinder.

Diagnostic

External oil leak: Rod wiper or rod seal worn, seal lip damaged during installation.

Internal leakage / cannot hold pressure: Piston seal damaged, seal extrusion.

Scratch on piston rod: Dust wiper invalid, foreign sand entering seal area.
