System compatibility

100G-DR-QSFP50 works on Extreme switches and routers with QSFP28 ports, such as SLX9850, X870, X670V series. EEPROM pre-programmed for Extreme device recognition. It can interoperate with 400G DR4 modules via fiber breakout links for data center spine-leaf interconnection. Requires host side FEC enabled for stable link.

Function

100G-DR-QSFP50 is single-lambda 100G QSFP28 fiber transceiver for medium short-reach data center interconnection. It converts 4 lanes of 25G NRZ electrical signal into one 100G PAM4 optical stream over a pair of single-mode fibers. Compared with traditional 4-lane 100G LR4/ER4, single lambda design reduces cost and simplifies fiber management, widely used for leaf to spine connections within data center buildings.

Installation

Insert the QSFP28 module into the QSFP28 port until latch locks. Connect duplex LC single-mode fiber patch cord. Enable FEC on the switch port. Verify optical power and link status via ExtremeXOS/SLX-OS CLI. Do not touch laser aperture, keep fiber end faces clean.
