System compatibility

10GBASE-X series transceivers are Extreme original optical modules. Compatible with Extreme devices with SFP+ / XFP ports, such as Summit X670, SLX9850, X870 platforms. EEPROM pre-programmed for ExtremeXOS and SLX-OS identification.

Function

10GBASE-X defines the physical layer for 10G Ethernet over optical fiber. It separates multiple sub-standards for different transmission distances. These 10G modules are widely used in data center leaf-spine, campus backbone and enterprise core network. WAN PHY variant can interwork with SONET/SDH transport equipment.

Installation

Insert SFP+/XFP transceiver into device port. Connect corresponding fiber patch cord (multimode for SR, single-mode for LR/ER). Verify module detection and link status via ExtremeXOS/SLX-OS CLI. Configure port to 10G full duplex.
