System compatibility

40GB-ESR4-QSFP is Extreme certified QSFP+ optical transceiver. Compatible with Extreme switches with QSFP+ ports including X480,X670V,X590,X690,X870 series. It can run native 40G uplink or breakout mode for 4×10GBASE-SR. Works with MPO-12 parallel multi-mode fiber trunk cables. Verified for SummitStack-V high speed stacking and spine-leaf fabric interconnection.

Function

40GB-ESR4-QSFP is extended reach 40G parallel multi-mode optical module for data center. It uses 4-lane 850nm VCSEL array to transmit 40G signal over MPO multi-mode trunk fiber. In breakout mode, each lane can work independently as 10GBASE-SR to expand 10G port quantity. Widely used for rack-to-rack 40G uplink, leaf-spine interconnection and high-speed stacking in data center. Longer distance than standard SR4 QSFP+ module for medium reach multi-mode fiber links.

Installation

Insert the QSFP+ transceiver fully into switch QSFP+ port. Connect MPO trunk fiber cable to module MPO port. Verify module identification, optical power and link status via ExtremeXOS CLI. Configure port breakout function if 4×10G SR ports required. Keep proper fiber bending radius during cabling.
