System compatibility
5520-12MW-36W belongs to Extreme 5520 high-performance multi-gig edge switch series. It can stack with other 5520 series switches, maximum 8 units per stack under single IP management. Compatible with Extreme certified 1G/10G SFP+ transceivers and DAC cables. Supports Layer2 switching and full Layer3 routing protocols, hardware MACsec encryption. Designed for high-density enterprise Wi-Fi 6/7 AP deployment, IP cameras and multi-gig terminal access.
Function
5520-12MW-36W is high density hybrid multi-gigabit PoE switch for modern enterprise access network. 12 2.5G PoE++ ports deliver high speed and up to 60W power for latest Wi-Fi 6/7 wireless access points. 36 PoE+ gigabit ports connect conventional APs, IP cameras and VoIP phones. Eight SFP+ ports provide 1G/10G fiber uplink and high-speed stacking between switches. Full-port MACsec protects data transmission over link layer. It supports VLAN, MSTP/RSTP, 802.1X authentication, LLDP, hardware ACL and multi-level QoS scheduling. Widely deployed for large campus, hospital and high-density office wireless access.
Installation
Mount the switch into standard 19-inch rack. Install dual AC power supplies and connect power cords. Use console port for initial CLI configuration. Insert SFP+ transceivers or DAC cables for uplink and stacking. Configure stacking group, PoE power priority allocation, VLAN and MACsec security policies. Verify port link status, PoE output and stack health after power on.

DiagnosticSwitch no power: Check AC input, power supply seating and power cable integrity. PoE port no power: Check remaining PoE budget, PoE enable setting and RJ45 cable condition. Multi-gig port negotiation failure: Verify Cat6a or better copper cable quality and auto-negotiation. SFP+ uplink down: Check SFP module compatibility, fiber end cleanliness and DDM optical power. Stacking abnormal: Confirm consistent firmware version for all stack members and stacking cable quality. MACsec negotiation failure: Ensure matching security key on both ends of link. Port link flapping: Inspect copper cable, connector damage and peer device configuration.
