System compatibility

5520-VIM-4YE is exclusive VIM expansion module for Extreme 5520 series switches, including 5520-48W,5520-12MW-36W,5520-48T. Compatible with Extreme certified SFP28 optical transceivers and 10G/25G DAC cables. Supports high-speed uplink and inter-switch stacking. MACsec function can be enabled on all four ports for secure layer 2 transmission.

Function

5520-VIM-4YE is high-performance uplink expansion card for 5520 universal edge switches. It adds four SFP28 ports for 25G high-bandwidth uplink to aggregation/core switch, or run at 10G mode. Integrated hardware MACsec provides end-to-end link encryption for sensitive enterprise traffic. Auto-FEC improves transmission stability over fiber and copper DAC. Widely used for campus high-density wireless access uplink, medium data center edge interconnection and stacking upgrade.

Installation

Use ESD protection. Insert the 5520-VIM-4YE fully into 5520 VIM slot and tighten captive screws. Plug SFP28 transceiver or 25G DAC cable into ports. Verify module detection and port status via CLI. Set port speed to 10G or 25G according to Fabric Engine / Switch Engine command requirement.
