System compatibility

8900-G96T-c belongs to Extreme BlackDiamond 8900 series line card, fits BlackDiamond 8800 c/e/xl chassis. It works with 8900-MSM128 management switch module. Not allowed to coexist with 10G4X module in same chassis. Supports L2 switching and full L3 routing, BGP, OSPF, VRRP, multicast protocols.

Function

8900-G96T-c is high-density gigabit line card for BlackDiamond 8800 modular core switch. It provides total 96 gigabit copper access ports via MRJ21 connectors, commonly paired with breakout cable to RJ45 ports for large wired access. Hot swap design allows online replacement without powering down whole chassis. It supports VLAN, STP/MSTP, 802.1X, ACL and QoS traffic scheduling. Widely used for large campus core, enterprise data center access aggregation and high-density wired network deployment.

Installation

Power on the BlackDiamond 8800 chassis. Insert 8900-G96T-c module gently into empty chassis slot, lock captive screws. Connect MRJ21 to RJ45 breakout cables. Verify module recognition and port status through ExtremeXOS CLI. Configure VLAN, ACL and QoS policies according to network requirement.
