System compatibility

SSR-PS-8 is dedicated power module for Extreme / Cabletron FR Smart Switch Router 8-slot chassis. Multiple PSU can be installed in the chassis for redundant power configuration. It works together with various line cards and management modules inside SSR 8000 series chassis. There is also DC variant SSR-PS-8-DC available for DC input environments.

Function

SSR-PS-8 supplies stable 12V DC power to the 8-slot SSR routing chassis and all inserted service modules. Multiple power modules support load balancing and power redundancy. If one PSU fails, remaining working units will take over the full load automatically to avoid network outage. It also provides power status monitoring and fault alarm signals to chassis management system.

Installation

Insert SSR-PS-8 module into the vacant PSU bay of SSR 8-slot chassis, push fully until locking latch clicks. Connect AC power cord. Chassis will detect the new power module automatically. Verify power status via chassis CLI or management console. For HA deployment, install at least two PSU for redundancy.
