System compatibility

X870-96X-8C supports SummitStack-V400 stacking, can stack with X590,X690,X870 series switches. Compatible with Extreme certified QSFP28/QSFP+ transceivers and breakout DAC cables. Supports Layer2 switching, full IPv4/IPv6 Layer3 routing,OSPF,BGP,VRRP,PIM multicast, VRRP, VXLAN, PTP and DCB. Licenses required to unlock higher speed on breakout ports.

Function

X870-96X-8C is a high-density 1U leaf switch for cloud and enterprise data center top of rack. 24 QSFP28 ports can be split into total 96×10G interfaces via 1:4 fanout cables for connecting 10G servers or access switches. The dedicated 8 QSFP28 multi-rate ports provide flexible high-speed uplink up to 100G to spine layer. High-speed ports can also be configured as SummitStack-V400 stacking links to combine multiple switches as one logical device. Low latency cut-through forwarding fits high-performance computing scenarios. It supports advanced QoS, large ACL table, jumbo frame, zero touch provisioning ZTP+ and comprehensive security control, widely deployed for high-density 10G leaf and enterprise large scale network aggregation.

Installation

Mount the switch into standard 19-inch equipment rack. Install PSU and fan modules, ensure airflow direction consistent between fans and power supplies. Connect power cable. Use console cable for initial CLI configuration. Insert QSFP28/QSFP+ transceivers and connect fiber or breakout DAC cables. Configure port breakout, speed license and SummitStack-V400 stacking parameters if stack cluster required. Verify port status and firmware consistency after boot.
