System compatibility

XGM3-2SF is dedicated expansion card for Extreme Summit X460 series switches, including X460-24t, X460-24p, X460-48t, X460-48p. It can be installed in rear Slot A only. Supports SummitStack-V virtual stacking function. Compatible with Extreme original SFP+ transceivers and DAC cables.

Function

XGM3-2SF adds two independent 10G SFP+ high-speed ports to Summit X460 switch. The ports can be used as regular 10G uplink to core switch, or configured as SummitStack-V stacking ports for switch cluster. It supports both optical fiber and copper DAC twinax connections, flexible for campus aggregation and enterprise network uplink expansion.

Installation

Power off the Summit X460 switch and disconnect power cable. Wear ESD anti-static wrist strap. Loosen the blank slot panel screws and remove blank plate. Align XGM3-2SF card and slide fully into slot A, tighten captive screws. Power on switch and reboot, then verify port detection via ExtremeXOS CLI.

DiagnosticCard undetected: Confirm full insertion and tight captive screws, reboot switch, verify ExtremeXOS version meets minimum requirement. Port no link: Check SFP+ module/DAC recognition, inspect cable quality and fiber end face. Stacking fail: Confirm ports are set to SummitStack-V mode, check stacking cable and peer switch configuration. Port flapping: Verify transceiver compatibility, check fiber attenuation or DAC cable damage.
